Suggestions for an Honorable LIfe

Found this on a website while 'surfing the net', not even sure of the name of the site or who the author is. I think the author goes by the name of 'Poet'. Anyways I found these 'rules' there and they seemed like a good thing so I am passing them along. I don't know any of the people mentioned in the opening statement. Hope you find them as interesting and thought provoking as I did.

The Magickal World of Wicca
As presented to the Wiccan Community at Witchstock Inter-Tradition meeting in 1998. The Inter-Tradition guidelines were written and presented by Lady Rhiannon of Serpentstone, Lady Cassandra of the Temple of Hecate Triskele, Lady Grey Cat of Northwind, Lady Silver Ravenwolf of the Black Forest and Grandfather Michael Ragan. This is an extraction from a complete document entitled Inter-Tradition Guidelines. This document contains Minimums for Initiation, Requirements for Eldership, The Law (including universal and coven) and the Code of Honor.

1. Chivalry must be followed by all (Honesty, bravery, generosity and kindness).

2. One's oath is one's sacred pledge. Pledge sparingly, for it must be of iron.

3. Speak no ill of another for all truth may not be known.

4. Pass not hearsay.

5. Be honest with all - and demand the same.

6. The fury of a moment plays folly with truth. Keeping one's head is a virtue.

7. Wisdom brings power. Apply discretion in its use.

8. Pledge friendship to those who warrant. To strengthen your brother or sister brings strength to you. Pledging friendship to the dishonorable brings dishonor to you.

9. Reveal not the secrets of others, lest your own secrets be lost.

10. Have pride in self. Seek perfection in body and mind, for you cannot honor another unless you honor self.

11. In all things, moderation.

12. Revere the God(s) and Goddess(es) of your tradition.

13. Respect the religion of others.

14. Accept the Laws of return (Karma).

15. Accept personal responsibility.

16. Respect the Laws of the Gods, humankind and nature.

17. Be loyal to your Coven, your High Priest and High Priestess, the Elders and your Craft brothers and Sisters.

18. Revere the natural world.

19. Respect the inner self.

20. Honor your succession of teachers.

The Zodiac and Colour

So I was and still am looking for information on colour correspondences and astrological sun signs. I have found that very few sites agree on what colours correspond to which sun sign. One simple 'rule' I found, which made sense to me, was that to consider the earth, air, fire, and water correspondences of the signs and use colours that are associated with those elements. I also found this site and I really like the attributes it gave to the colours.

http://www.astrology-source.com/color.html

Here is a site with a VERY detailed colour correspondence chart, showing exact shades:

Simple Banishing Oil

Here is a simple 'banishing' oil. Pour a small amount of your favorite oil into a small jar/bottle. Crush 9 peppercorns in your mortar to add to the oil. You can also add some sage for protection and sea salt for purity of intent. Add crushed mixture to oil and shake well.

Ritual for a Birthday

Here is a ritual to be done on your birthday.

Needed:
Black candle
White candle
Candle in the color of your astrological sign
Banishing oil
Good luck oil
Piece of paper
Cauldron
water that has been blessed

Cast the circle. Anoint the black candle with banishing oil, visualizing all obstacles, bad habits, etc. falling away from you. Light the candle and say:

"This candle shall absorb
All negative forces acting around me and through me.
As this candle burns,
It engulfs all negative energies,
Clearing this next year for success."

Anoint the white candle with good luck oil, visualizing all good thoughts, success, and positive forces flocking to you. Light the candle and say:

"This candle shall attract
All positive forces to act around me and through me.
As this candle burns,
It purifies my mind, soul, heart, and body,
As I prepare for this next year."

Light the astrological candle, and say:

"As this candle represents myself,
It is a beacon for positive energies,
Love, light, and prosperity.
As this candle burns bright,
The light of my journey will burn bright
With happiness and gifts
From the Lord and Lady in this coming year."

Place 'your' candle between the white and black ones. Reflect on your past year's regrets, flaws you have, and mistakes you have made. Write these down on a piece of paper.

Burn the paper over the black candle, and say:

"As the snake sheds its skin,
So do I shed these ill things."

Drop the paper in the cauldron. Reflect on the things you wish to accomplish in your coming year, all traits you wish to acquire, and experiences you hope to gain. Write these down on a piece of paper.

Burn it over the white candle, and say:

Healing Spell

(NOT to be used in place of professional medical care.)

Items Used:
A photograph of the person to be healed.
A green candle
A jade ring (or other green healing stone)
some red cotton thread
A drawing of the afflicted area of the body
tea tree oil
a pinch of dried lavender
a small green cloth pouch
a glass of water

Special note: If the illness has to do with cancer or another type of tumor then this will be a type of banishing and you might want to substitute black for green in this spell. Additionally you might want to use jet or onyx instead of jade.

This is best performed during a waxing moon (or waning, if it is for banishing).

Ground and center. Breathe deep and feel your power. If you work with any Gods or Goddesses that you are particularly attuned to, especially if healing is among their attributes, feel their presence now. Hold the glass of water in both hands and feel your power, and that of the Gods, flowing into and through you. Feel it flow into the water and “see” it begin to glow with the power of healing. Say something like:

“Healing flows into this water,
flowing from Her sacred well.”

Know that the water will hold this charge until it is used. Place the cup aside for now.

Hold the candle and focus on the concept of health. You may wish to etch something on it like “ is now healed.” Rub some of the tea tree oil onto it. Put it in a holder and set it aside. Do the same with the ring, placing it over the end of the candle so that it rests on it, suspended. Sprinkle some of the water around the candleholder in a clockwise circle (counter-clockwise if you are banishing).

Hold the drawing of the afflicted area. Use your feeling-sense to delve into the area of the person’s body and feel the quality of energy there. If you imagine that it is too hot, for example, you may wish to imagine it cooling; if it is too active, you may try calming it down. Take the tea tree oil and draw a pentagram over the afflicted area with your fingers. Light the candle and say:

“I call forth light,
in the dark of night,
to heal the blight,
with strength and with might.”

Burn the drawing from the candle flame and put the ashes in the green pouch along with a pinch of lavender. Burn some of the lavender and allow the smoke to waft over the photograph as you focus on it. See the person as surrounded by a green aura of healing (or perhaps purple, or cobalt blue for a banishing). “Feel” that they are healthy, happy, and strong. If they had a broken leg, “see” them as running on perfectly strong legs; if a problem with their lungs, see them breathing effortlessly, etc. Allow your sense of their health and newfound strength to permeate the photograph. You may wish to chant something like:

you are healed.
you are strong.”

You might wish to repeat this chant until you have achieved a sense of deep trance.

When you are in a deep state of trance and have felt that the healing power has been transferred to the person, then roll up the photograph and tie it with the thread

Say:

“Surrounded by a ring of jade,
encircled by the healing waters,
bound together by cord of blood,
strength restored and life renewed.”

Burn the photograph, releasing the power into the universe. Mix the resulting ashes with the ashes from the drawing and place inside the green pouch. Drink the water feeling it refresh and renew you, bringing you healing energy, keeping you cleansed. Allow the candle to burn completely out. Retrieve the ring and place inside the pouch along with the ashes. Keep this hidden until the full moon (or dark moon for a banishing) at which time it should be given to the subject of this healing. If this is not possible then it should be worn by a friend or loved one as a reminder of the healing energy.

Soul Mate Spell

This spell is intended to draw a partner who is best suited to you at this time in your life, or one who is "meant" for you. It is supposedly "fail-safe", but remember, you must take responsibility for any results and consequences.

Components Needed:

A clear mind and focused goal

Special paper, such as hemp, cotton, real parchment, whatever you deem special

A ritual writing instrument (the pen is mightier than the Athame) such as quill, fountain pen, favorite ball-point, etc. In whatever color ink desired.

Moon Incense

Charcoal or a small ritual fire

Timing: any time, preferably after dark during the waxing moon. The timing is more flexible with this working for many reasons; the nature of the work, and the full moon energy contained in the moon incense which is an incense of Increase or drawing.

Reinforce your personal circle/aura and prepare for workings in your usual manner. Using the ritual pen and special paper, write words of power that will call the most perfect partner to you at this time. Do not include specific names, and avoid thinking of a specific person. If you can't find quite the right words, use the following:

If there be a perfect match,
this work tonight will surely catch.
the perfect one who is meant to be,
shall find His/Her way home to me.
In perfect love and perfect trust,
I send this out, but not from lust,
This spell will guide us to unite,
free will remains with us tonight.

When you are finished, read over what you wrote and confirm that everything you want to say is included. When you are certain it is as you wish, spend some time meditating on your goal while you light your ritual fire or the charcoal. When you get "that feeling" (the one when you know everything is right, your will is focused, you know it is certain, you know the feeling...) prepare to begin the physical aspect of the ritual. When the fire has become coals, or the charcoal is glowing happily, read aloud your writing, repeating it 3 times. As you read, or as you come to the end of each repetition, sprinkle a small handful (about a tablespoon) of the Moon Incense on the fire. You will want to be practiced at this for the best effect as well as safety, so make up a full recipe of it and accustom yourself to its nature prior to the rite.

Fold the paper and keep it near you for three days. Keep it under your pillow, mattress, or pinned to your night clothes (if you aren't sky/star clad) while you sleep. After three days, light another ritual fire, repeat the Circle of Power/Protection, reading and incense procedure and this time, burn the paper when you are done. OR you can keep the paper in a special spell box if you use this method. Many witches have special containers to keep finished workings in. These are usually decorative and personalized with engravings or painting on them that echo their contents. For example, a heart shaped heartwood box with runes and magickal symbols of love on it for this spell. Usually only similar spells are kept together, or each spell is kept in its own box.

Magick and Honey

Was inspired by Mrs. B. over at Confessions of A Pagan Soccer Mom, to look a little more into the magickal uses of honey. Was surprised at how little I was
actually able to find. One spell that I found repeatedly was a 'honey jar' spell. The best explanation and way(s) of doing it I found at Lucky MoJo.

http://www.luckymojo.com/honeyjar.html

Here are some magickal uses and correspondences:

Western element: water

Magickal uses: attracting happiness, fertility, purification, romance

deities associated with honey:
Artemis (Greek Goddess)
Ea (Babylonian God)
Kama (Hindu God)
Min (Kemetic/ancient Egyptian God)

When using honey as an offering it is traditional to taste the honey first to show it is not poisoned.

The Aroma of Abundance

Here's a prosperity mixture that really works:

Take a tablespoon of cinnamon
Add a two tablespoons of cloves
One tablespoon of nutmeg
Some ground ginger (NOT powder)
freshly ground coffee beans (1 tablespoon)
6 drops lavender oil
6 drops ylang ylang oil
6 tablespoons of honey

Mix everything together and put it in a babyfood jar.

Open the jar and smell the mixture once a day for 30 days. Try and prepare this when the moon is full.

When opening the jar to smell it say the following:

"Goddess Mother hear me here.
Send me what I need so dear.
Help me become the best I can be.
Send me money, so mote it be."

The contents of the jar are now sacred because you have offered them to the Goddess. After a month, let it dry out and you can burn it on your altar.

Past LIfe Tarot Spread

From the Wizards Tarot, here’s a past-life spread based on the Transfiguration card:

Most of us are constantly in the process of remaking ourselves. We want to shed unhealthy habits and unproductive beliefs, and replace them with wholesome thoughts and behaviors.

The process of transformation and release, however, always comes with a price. Sometimes it seems unbearably high: in order to change, we have to relinquish the comfort and control of our old selves, and venture into new, unknown territory.

For deep insight into your personal transformation, you can use the cards to explore a past life. This spread can refer to the life you lived as a child or young adult, or it can describe another incarnation completely.

Lay the cards in a figure-8 shaped lemniscate, which is a symbol of infinity.

1.Past life physical description: What did you look like during your past life?
2.Past life location: Where did you live?
3.Past life personality: What kind of person were you?
4.Past-life/present-life relationship: Which relationship have you carried over from a past life to your present? (If you’d like to see more than one relationship, add another card.)
5.Past life purpose: What was your soul’s purpose in a past life?
6.Past life passion: What did you love about your old life?
7.Past life death: How did your old life pass away?
8.Life lesson: What did you learn from your old life?
9.An unresolved issue from your past life: What fear, worry, or concern did you carry from your old life into your present?
10.Present life purpose: What do you need to accomplish in your current life?
11.Advice: What message does your past self have for your present self?

Confidence Spell

You will need:
A piece of cedar wood about 18 inches long
Rose geranium oil

Chip a little of the wood off and put it to one side. Place 7 drops of rose
geranium onto the cedar wand and holding it in your right hand, trace a circle around yourself (or have someone do it for you) and visualize a glowing sphere of light encasing you as you say:

"The protective shield of the god/dess
keeps me from harm
allows my power to grow within me
to share for the good of all."

Place a drop of rose geranium oil on the small piece of cedar and carry it with you. Do this ritual every morning.

Tip: Black tea drunk with lemon is good for courage.

A Celtic Invocation for Guidance

Math, guide me with thy wisdom,
Pwyll, guide me with thy strength,
Lleu, guide me with thy inspiration,
Manawyddan, guide me with thy justice.

Rhiannon, fill me with thy fullness,
Govannon, shield me with thy shade,
Gwydion, fill me with thy grace,
For the sake of the Three Worlds and their kings.

For the One who was stolen on Beltane's Eve,
For the One who hides himself in the woods,
For the One who stood on the rim of the Cauldron,
For the sake of the Three that are One,
And that One who is lover to the Three.
So mote it be!

Invocation to the Mooon for Guidance

To reach a goal when the path is hard to find, use this potent spell
to draw upon the mother moon's guidance. The Moon can often be the way
to clarity through reflection and ritual. To start, look at the Moon
and focus on her energy. After you are in touch with the Moon, focus
on your goal, and speak these words three times:

Mother Moon,
I call on thee.
Hear my voice tonight.
The stars shine around you like jewels very bright.
My path has grown misty
and it's hard to see my way.
Help me, Mother,
to find my path,
So I see what will be.
Shine upon me
with the light that I extol.
Light my path,
and show the way
to my goal.

Simple Wish Spell

-Needed Supplies-
*1 sheet of quality paper/parchment
*a pen/pencil used in magickal works
*candles (usually white, can change depending on your wish)

Do a relaxation ritual before this and clear your mind well. Concentrate on
the spell not the joy afterwards.

Take the paper/parchment and draw a pentagram in the middle of it. Then draw a ying-yang symbol in the middle of it. Now write down your wish on the top of the sheet. Write your wish such as ''make me get rich, make my
mother/friend etc. get healed, make me get 'the thing you want''...
Then fold the sheet 3 times and seal it with your candle. Then burn it with
the fire of candle you sealed it. While it turns into ashes, repeat your wish inside yourself or out loud. When it's all ash, sprinkle the ashes from a window or such.

As always be clear in what you wish for.

Ritual for Guidance

This spell requires two blue candles and one candle to portray yourself, and sandalwood oil. Anoint candles with the oil and visualize yourself being in a trance like state. Place blue candles on either side of the chosen candle, light the blue candles and say unto thyself:

-Spirit guides/ higher self hear my plea
-Come now and converse with me
-Walk me and guide me through this veil trance, I ask of you

Now sit in a comfortable position and become aware of your breathing patterns. Inhale deeply, exhale deeply, listen to the rhythm of your body and breathing motions. As you become relaxed close your eyes. Focus on your third eye and visualize the colours red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue, indigo, purple, and white in order. Hold each colour for a count of five. Watch as it fades into each colour, still focusing on third eye. Watch your breath and see your chest rise and fall with the air (eyes still closed) and watch your breath as it changes into waves. Now visualize a door on water. Visualize yourself going through the door and visiting with your spirit guide. Ask your questions. Trust the answers you receive. Walk out the door, watch the waves turn back into breathing patterns. Now open your eyes and say to yourself:

-I return to earth again
-Thank you spirit self and friends

Then blow out the candles in reverse order, first your chosen candle and then the blue candles.

This spell is very good to do before trying other in-depth spells.
