I was reading a book and a character in the book spoke of doing a card reading in a circle pattern. I was intrigued so I went looking for a card layout that used a circle and found what was called the astrology spread. Well it seemed interesting and so I decided to do it. But I felt lead to sleep with the cards under my pillow until I felt it was time to do it. Yesterday was that day, after having slept with them under my pillow for 5 days. I have to say it felt like the most powerful reading I have ever done for myself. I am still trying to decipher the results but while I was interpreting them initially they felt so right. I would suggest this technique of sleeping with your cards to everyone and this spread.

Choose the significator. The significator is a card that represents you, the reader. Choosing it is based largely upon intuition, but since this is the zodiac spread, it should also be astrologically based. There are four elements - fire, earth, air and water - that are each associated with three of the zodiac signs. Fire houses are symbolized in a tarot deck by a wand and scepter and include Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Earth houses are symbolized by pentacles and coins and represent Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Air houses display a sword and are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces and are represented by a cup.

Shuffle the deck of tarot cards, cut it, and lay the pattern. For the zodiac spread, 12 cards are laid face up in a circle beginning at the one o'clock position and proceeding clockwise. Each number, and thus each card, on the allegorical clock represents a house of the zodiac. Beginning clockwise at one:

1: Aries; personality, attitudes, and how one interacts within the world.
2: Taurus; financial & material matters, principals
3: Gemini; communication, education, siblings & travel
4: Cancer; home, family, childhood, fatherly influences
5: Leo; pleasures & leisure, romance & creativity relationships with children
6: Virgo; work & responsibilities, health, helping others
7: Libra; close partnership & working relationships, alliances & marriage
8: Scorpio; hidden influences, life cycle, sexuality & psychic awareness
9: Sagittarius; religion & philosophy, law, foreign cultures & long distance travel.
10: Capricorn; career & ambitions, self-esteem, achievements & public status
11: Aquarius; social life & acquaintances, hopes and wishes
12: Pisces; subconscious, strengths & weaknesses, restrictions

or

Aries, self and identity

Taurus, work and material goods

Cancer, home and family

Leo, magic, art and pleasure

Virgo, health and apprenticeship

Libra, relationships

Scorpio, secrets and taboos

Sagittarius, visions and travel

Ritual to Know Inner Child

Cast a Circle. Sit facing south and light a green or blue candle. Have a doll or stuffed animal. Take it in your hands and sprinkle it with salt water.

Say:
"I name you _________________."
(Use your own childhood name or nickname.)

Hold it in your arms, croon to it, rock it, and talk to it. Tell it everything you would have liked to hear as a child. Let it talk to you and tell you how it feels and what it wants. Let your voice change. Play.

Raise energy and visualize that you are pouring it into the doll, who is your own inner self. Create an image of your own child self as you would have liked it to be, and project it into your doll. Continue until the doll is glowing with white light and love.

Kiss the doll. Wrap it in white cloth and lay it to rest on your altar. Bind the spell. Earth the power. Open the Circle. Repeat as often as you need or want to.

Magick and Herbs

Herbs are used in magick for their "vibrations" or "essences". What does this mean? Herbs, like people, have gender, are ruled by a planet, an element, and are often sacred to a God or Goddess. This is known in Wicca as the herbal correspondence, and it is an important element in Wiccan Magick Spells. Growing and nurturing herbs in your own magickal garden can give you the advantage of having your own energies already influencing the plant. A plant such as Angelica, ruled by the Sun, will then have all of the influence of the Sun and fire, along with your personal energies.

Wiccan Ways to use Herbs

Charms and sachets - Fill a small bag, of the correct color or material, with herbs to make a charm or sachet. You can carry the charm with you, hang it in the house or car, or bury or burn it, depending on the purpose, and the spell you are performing.

Incense- Herbs can be burned as a ritual incense, such as the sage smudge used to clear negative vibrations from a space.

Bath - Make a sachet, and place it in your ritual or healing bath. Fragrant herbs like lavender make a very relaxing bath, and you can use certain herbs to alleviate skin and other conditions, such as using eucalyptus in a bath when you have a cold or flu.

Oils - Place herbs in an oil, let them steep for a few days, then strain. You can make annointing oils for you ritual work, beauty oils for your hair, skin and nails (try coconut or jojoba), or flavor oils for cooking and seasoning, such as steeping rosemary in olive oil.

Teas- Use herbs to make teas for healing illness. Some herbs can be used to mildly alter consciousness, such as valerian or kava kava which can facilitate trance like states.

Smoking- You can make herbal smoking mixtures which will also facilitate altered states of consciousness.

In spellwork, herbs can be sprinkled or placed around or within boundaries (such as your home, altar, or magick circle) to define a "territory" for your magick to work. Of course, you can always use flavorful herbs in cooking and seasoning your food. There are many healthful benefits, and they taste great! Always give all plant life respect, where ever you are- remember, the word "weed" is simply a value judgement! Dandelion, for instance, has many, many healing and nutritional qualities which are extremely beneficial not only to the wildlife which feeds on it, but to you, too! Learn to recognize the herbs around you- even in a city, there are many wonderful herbs growing wild, which you can gather and use. Herbs are Nature's gift- use them with wisedom and joy!

Aromatherapy and Magick

What magic does fragrance possess? It can move our souls, bring back memories, calm our minds, and set the stage for romance. Perhaps the secret lies deep in the most ancient core of our brain- the limbic system. It processes our sense of smell, and also controls our "autonomic" nervous system- our breath, our heartbeat. Scent can affect the autonomic nervous system, causing the breath to deepen and slow, which in turn, calms the heart.

Many illnesses begin in the mind, and the benefit of aromatherapy is that it helps ease the unconscious causes of distress. Aromatherapy utilizes essential oils to stimulate both psychological and physical benefits. Essential oils are not perfume or frangrance oils- they are literally the pure "essence" of a plant, and are unadulterated by any artificial or chemical ingredients. Not all ready made aromatherapy products labeled with the word "aromatherapy" are pure and natural. Avoid products which use "fragrances" or chemical ingredients. True aromatherapy products will contain only essential oils, and other natural ingredients.

Essential oils have a rich, natural aroma, which can offer either relaxing or stimulating psychological benefits by triggering the brain (perhaps in the same way phermones do, by stimulating the release of subtle hormones.) The components of the oils also enter the lungs, and oils applied to the skin absorb into the bloodstream, providing actual physical benefits. But essential oils must be used with care- they are very concentrated, and in pure form, can irritate the skin. They are commonly diluted with "carrier" oils such as sweet almond, apricot kernal, grapeseed, or jojoba, and stored in brown or blue glass bottles to protect potency.

Essential oils are often blended together to form "synergies". Properly blended in the right proportions, synergies can be of greater benefit than the individual oils used seperately. That is the art of an aromatherapist, and their special blends are often closely guarded professional secrets.

Experimenting with aromatherapy can be a fun way to add a rich, calming sense of beauty to your life!

Crystals are a tool and can be like a storage battery for thought energy. "Clearing" has to do with the energy of the stone or crystal. It is a way to personalize your crystal, and create a new energy bond between you and your new gem stone partner. There are many ways to do this, but this is a simple and effective way - make sure you will not be disturbed. Hold your new crystal under running water, and as the water pours over it, close your eyes and imagine all the negative energies are washed away down the drain and out to the vast ocean to be purified by the cycles of life. You can also leave them in the warm sun, and allow the power of it's light purify to the crystal with "fire".

To program your new crystal, simply hold it in your hand, close your eyes, then in your imagination, create an image of what you want your crystal or gem stone to help you create. Keep your crystal close to your skin, and when you can not wear it, store it in a special box or bag, which has also been purified and blessed. Boji Stones

Boji Stones, known as the "Stones of Humanity," are very powerful in their healing properties and are often used by healers to align one's energy field.

Boji Stones are often called the “stones of humanity” because they are separated as male and female stones and are frequently known to have androgynous qualities. Male stones are outnumbered greatly by female stones and are uneven and sharp. The androgynous varieties of male Boji Stones exhibit points and rough patterns along the surface. In comparison to other minerals Boji Stones are smaller in size with the largest faceted stone to be found less than only three carats in weight. Most Boji Stones are approximately the size of a dime to the size of a gold ball.

They are as old as the earth and were formed simultaneously with the creation of the Earth, thus making the stones millions of years old. They are blackish-brown in color, flat and spherical in shape, and are made up primarily of pyrite. They are only found in one place in the world, the United States. They have been derived from Smoky Hill Chalk Member of the Niobrara Formation in Gove County, Kansas. When used for healing purposes, these stones are most effective when they are used in pairs as male and female. The androgynous male stones can be used independently of the female stone because their energy is equal to the energy of the pair. It's believed that Boji Stones are effective in healing physical conditions.

What Are the Metaphysical Properties of Boji Stones?

Boji Stones facilitate the moving of energy from the subtle (spiritual) body to the physical body. They are primarily used to balance and align ones energy field. They help to balance the yin and yang (male and female) energies in the body and help to recharge the aura and fill any empty spaces with positive energy. Boji Stones have also been used to assist in the aligning of all the chakras in the body, from Crown Chakra to Root Chakra. These stones are said to improve the body’s electrical structure by creating an electromagnetic field around it and to promote the removal of blockages in order to allow healing to take place in the body. Boji Stones have been shown to improve the functioning of the brain by up to six percent as they are used to facilitate clarity in the brain. They are also said to be useful in recovering short and long-term memory.

What Are the Physical Healing Properties of Boji Stones?

Boji Stones are believed to be very effective in alleviating pain. When placed on an injured body part, some say that it helps to ease the pain almost instantaneously and endows one with the ability to heal more quickly
Boji Stones are also said to promote the regeneration of cellular tissues that have been damaged and ease muscle strains and pain. As mentioned above, these stones are used to facilitate clarity in the brain. They are also used on a physical level to eliminate excess aluminum that is stored in the brain and could potentially cause damage.

Boji Stones in the Astrological World
